Shepherd’s Heart Enrichment Tutorial Classes meet every Monday in accordance with our Tutorial Calendar from 9:00 a.m. until 2:25 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church. We meet together for fourteen weeks per semester – twenty-eight weeks total for the school year. (Check our calendar for holidays and breaks.)
Praise and Worship is offered in the sanctuary before class begins from 9:00 a.m. until 9:15 a.m., where all family members are invited to participate in beginning their day.
Our program offers enrichment classes for ages Pre-Kindergarten through Eighth grades.
(Our PreK class averages 8 students /Kindergarten averages 12 students / First through eighth grades average 16 students for each class.)
The Pre-Kindergarten*, Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third grade are self-contained classes.
*PreK students are required to be 4 by Aug 1st to register.
The Fourth through Eighth grades are set up to rotate between five classes.
We provide our sixth, seventh, and eighth graders with a slightly more accelerated and in-depth enrichment to accommodate their upperclassmen status.
*Please note: Classes for rotating students are not a la carte.*

This class will be filled with both hands-on and written activities to apply the students’ academic knowledge and encourage critical thinking. Puzzles, riddles, analogies, games, and some manipulatives will be used to help students sharpen their skills. These experiences will include math, language, and real-life situations encouraging both group and individual work. Put on your thinking caps, and let’s go!
Our Solar System–Salena Wenneborg

“The heavens declare the glory of God”! This class will explore our solar system – a fraction of the vast universe our God created. We will study the sun, moon, asteroids, planets, comets and their movements and interactions and how these point to our amazing Creator.
Book Study: Island of the Blue Dolphins–Lauren Roberts

In this class, we’ll follow Karana, a young girl stranded alone on an island, in the adventure-filled Island of the Blue Dolphins. We’ll talk about survival, courage, and how she learns to live with the land and its creatures. Along the way, we’ll explore the story’s themes and the lessons we can take from Karana’s journey. To wrap it all up, students will complete a culminating project to showcase what they’ve learned. There will be some reading to do at home to keep up with the story, so get ready to dive into an unforgettable adventure!
Physical Fitness–Tom Tritschler
- This class takes physical health seriously. Dr. Tom walks the students through a full-body workout and a practice in several game basics. This is always a student favorite.
Art: American Folk Artists–Rebekah Craig

In art class, students explore drawing techniques and watercolor painting while also learning about the history and biographies of influential artists. Through hands-on lessons, students develop foundational skills in sketching, shading, and painting techniques. Each week, the lesson focuses on introducing artistic skills and integrating the study of famous artists. Students gain insights into the lives, styles, and contributions of artists from various backgrounds. During the first semester, students will study American folk artists. The class encourages creativity and critical thinking by prompting students to reflect on their own work while drawing inspiration from the work of different artists. Through the combination of practical techniques and historical exploration, students will deepen their knowledge and appreciation of art.
Second Semester:
Dissections–Jennifer Carper

The students will work in pairs or small groups to examine the different organs/parts of various plants and animals through dissection. Exploring these organisms will not only be fun and interesting, but help students gain a better overall understanding of life science, and God’s amazing creation.
Tennessee History–Salena Wenneborg

Students will examine the history of Tennessee including the cultural, geographic, economic, and political influences that have shaped it into the state it is today. Students will study a variety of primary and secondary source documents and participate in a research project over the course of the semester.
Inventions and Inventors–Lauren Roberts

Ever wonder how some of the world’s greatest inventions came to be? In this hands-on class, we’ll dive into the lives of famous inventors and discover how they changed the world with their groundbreaking ideas. We’ll explore the challenges they faced, the creativity behind their inventions, and how their work continues to shape the world today. But it’s not just about studying the past; we’ll also be getting creative and designing our own inventions to solve real-life problems. Who knows, maybe you’ll come up with the next big thing!
